Passenger train strikes tractor trailer

January 12, 2011

As an attorney handling truck crash cases in New York, I have again taken notice of another truck accident involved in Western New York, specifically in Dunkirk, Chautauqua County. This crash involves a passenger train and a tractor-trailer at a railroad crossing. Railroad crossings require the upmost care and attention by truck drivers to protect the public’s safety. An article regarding this crash is in Thursdays Buffalo News.

As a precaution, always stay well behind a truck passing a railroad crossing to avoid becoming involved. This crash also took place in winter conditions with fresh snow. This adds to the need for heightened attention. Unfortunately the truck driver perished in this crash as he was attempting to go around the gates.

There were also several traffic accidents this morning involving automobiles due to winter conditions. Please be careful in Buffalo while driving, especially in challenging conditions.
