A recent AAJ article says that the National Transportation Safety Board cited a lack of appropriate federal safety standards and driver fatigue as contributing factors in this deadly crash where nine people died. The AAJ is calling for new regulations directed at improving the safety of passengers on commercial transportation vehicles. Proposed standards would include installation of electronic devices to monitor driver fatigue, seat belts, and stronger vehicle construction. Commercial trucks are also included in this call for more stringent standards.
Greenhouse Emissions Bill Would Reduce Gases by 20%

The Washington Post reported today that “The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee will unveil a bill Wednesday that aims for a 20 percent reduction in U.S. greenhouse gas emissions from 2005 levels by the year 2020” The House bill, authored by Reps. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) and Edward
