Ford Truck Recall-Fire Hazard

August 2, 2011

As attorneys who handle dangerous products and auto and truck defects we have successfully resolved truck corrosion cases. They are often unreported, but common in the Northeast United States.

Ford is recalling 1.1 million trucks because in states such as New York, where road chemicals corrode the fuel tank straps. If the corrosion is complete the tank will fall off and hit the ground, sometimes causing the truck to catch fire.

The recall is big, including the following models built between June, 1995, and August, 2004:

  • 1997-2003 F-150
  • 2004 F-150 Heritage
  • 1997-1999 F-250 with gross vehicle weight of less than 8,500 pounds
  • 2002-2003 Lincoln Blackwood

Please check your truck’s build date on the driver-side doorjamb.

Dealers should replace the straps with new corrosion resistant straps. Owners, call your dealer or call Ford at 866-436-7332.
