Attorney Tom Caraher

When the science in your case gets complex, Tom Caraher is right at home.  Before he ever set foot in a law school classroom, Tom spent years in the lab studying how the human body works at a cellular level.  Today he brings that same curiosity and discipline to representing those who have been seriously hurt through no fault of their own.

Tom is originally from Syracuse, New York, but is proud to call Buffalo home, though he needs to work on calling carbonated drinks pop, not soda.  He earned a B.S. in Biology from Nazareth College in Rochester, before moving to Houston, where he earned a M.S. in Biology, with a concentration in cell and molecular biology, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Houston.  This background gives Tom an advantage in injury cases.  He can read a medical record, understand what a diagnosis means for a client’s future, and speak the same language as the physicians and experts who help prove a case.

Immediately after graduating, he returned to Western New York to start his legal career at a one of Buffalo’s largest firms, where he focused on commercial, environmental, and tort litigation in state and federal court. That experience taught him exactly how defense firms and insurance companies build their cases, and he now uses that insight on behalf of injured people.  He later moved to a Plaintiff’s firm in Niagara Falls, where he gained valuable experiences handling, and resolving, cases from intake through litigation.

When he’s not in court, Tom also gives back to his community.  He serves on the BISON Fund’s President’s Council.  He and his wife also volunteer with New York State Science Olympiad, where they help run events at regional and state competitions.  Finally, Tom serves as a lector at St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church.

In his personal time, Tom enjoys spending time with his wife and cooking.  He is an avid runner and enjoys running 5Ks throughout Western New York.  He is also a huge football fan, and enjoys watching college and professional games.  When watching sports isn’t enough, he also enjoys playing ultimate frisbee and, occasionally, flag football.
